How to collect product reviews in WooCommerce
WooCommerce includes product reviews, star ratings, moderation, verified-owner labels and review-request emails. Enable reviews in the product settings, check the individual product, then approve submissions from Products > Reviews. Use a plugin when you need custom forms, image uploads or richer review controls.

What you need
- A WooCommerce store with products already published
- Administrator access to WordPress
- A completed-order email setup if you want automated review requests
Enable product reviews globally
Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Products and find the Reviews section. Enable product reviews, then choose whether to show the verified-owner label, allow reviews only from verified owners, enable star ratings, and require a rating before submission. Save the changes.
Allowing only verified owners usually produces more trustworthy feedback, but it also prevents visitors who have not bought the product from submitting a review.
Check each product’s review setting
Edit a product and open Product data > Advanced. Make sure Enable reviews is selected, then update the product. Global review settings do not always fix an individual product whose own review setting is disabled.
If the review form or existing reviews still do not appear, check this product-level setting first. A theme or another plugin may also be affecting how the review tab is displayed.
Decide how customers will be prompted
For a manual approach, add a short request to your order-complete email or contact customers after delivery. Ask for an honest review and link directly to the product page. This route costs nothing extra, but you must remember to send the requests and it gives you no custom form or image-upload workflow.
WooCommerce also has a built-in Customer review request feature. Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Features, enable the feature, then configure WooCommerce > Settings > Emails > Review request. The email is disabled by default, and the default delay is seven days after an order is marked Completed.
Moderate and reply to reviews
Go to Products > Reviews to approve, unapprove, edit, reply to, mark as spam, or trash reviews. You can filter the list by product, rating or review type, and use bulk actions for several submissions at once.
Do not assume a submitted review is visible immediately. If your moderation settings require approval, the customer may see a pending message while the review waits for approval.
Choose the faster route for advanced reviews
The built-in tools are enough if you only need written reviews, star ratings, basic moderation and optional review-request emails. For custom questions, customer image uploads, more detailed contribution types or richer review displays, use WooCommerce Product Reviews Pro. It adds custom review forms, moderation controls, image uploads and rich-snippet support.
Install it from Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, activate it, and review its settings under WooCommerce before inviting customers to submit feedback. Keep the standard WooCommerce review settings enabled unless the plugin’s documentation tells you otherwise.
Let WooCommerce Product Reviews Pro do it
Custom forms, moderation, image uploads, and rich snippets for stores that need more than WooCommerce's default reviews.

Questions
- Does WooCommerce collect product reviews without another plugin?
- Yes, WooCommerce includes written product reviews and star ratings without another plugin. Enable reviews under WooCommerce > Settings > Products, then check Product data > Advanced on each product. You can moderate submissions from Products > Reviews. A separate plugin is only needed for features such as custom review forms, image uploads or more advanced review workflows.
- Why is the review form missing from a product page?
- The review form is usually missing because reviews are disabled globally or on that individual product. Check WooCommerce > Settings > Products first, then edit the product and enable reviews under Product data > Advanced. If both settings are correct, test for a theme or plugin conflict because support cases also report display problems after the core settings are enabled.
- Can only verified customers leave WooCommerce reviews?
- Yes, WooCommerce can restrict reviews to verified owners. Enable Reviews can only be left by verified owners in WooCommerce > Settings > Products. This limits submissions to customers who purchased that specific product, so it can reduce spam but also stops genuine prospective or non-logged-in reviewers from contributing.
- How do I ask customers for reviews automatically?
- Use WooCommerce’s Customer review request feature if it is available on your store. Enable it under WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Features, then configure the Review request email under WooCommerce > Settings > Emails. You can set a delay after the order reaches Completed; WooCommerce’s documented default delay is seven days, and the email is disabled initially.
