How to bulk edit orders in WooCommerce

WooCommerce Time About 15 minutes for status changes; 30–60 minutes for wider edits 6 steps Updated 21 Oct 2026

WOOCOMMERCE
The short answer

WooCommerce lets you select several orders and bulk-change their status or remove personal data. It does not natively bulk-edit addresses, payment methods, notes, or line items, so larger changes need a plugin such as WP Sheet Editor WooCommerce Orders Pro.

The route
  1. 01Back up before changing orders
  2. 02Find and filter the orders
  3. 03Use WooCommerce bulk actions
  4. 04Edit wider order data manually
  5. 05Check emails and fulfilment
  6. 06Use a spreadsheet editor for speed

What you need

  • A WooCommerce store with administrator or Shop Manager access
  • A recent backup or staging copy before changing many orders
  • A clear list of the orders and fields you need to change

Back up before changing orders

Create a backup before making a large update, especially if you are changing customer details or order statuses. If possible, work on a staging copy first and confirm that your backup can be restored.

Be careful with paid orders. WooCommerce restricts editing of many order details once an order reaches Processing or a later status, and changing statuses can affect fulfilment and email workflows.

Find and filter the orders

Go to WooCommerce > Orders. Use the status links above the table, the date filter, the customer search, or the order search box to narrow the list before selecting anything. You can search by an order number, customer name, or information shown in the table.

Use Screen Options to show useful columns and increase the number of orders displayed per page. Do not set the page size higher than your hosting can handle, because a very large table can become slow or time out.

Use WooCommerce bulk actions

Tick the orders you want to change. To select every order on the current page, tick the checkbox beside the Order column heading, then open the Bulk actions menu and choose an action.

Core WooCommerce provides actions for moving orders to the trash, changing them to Processing, On hold, Completed, or Cancelled, and removing personal data when that feature is enabled. Select Apply, then review the result.

Edit wider order data manually

For billing or shipping details, line items, quantities, prices, fees, coupons, order notes, or payment information, open each order and use its Edit Order screen. WooCommerce supports these controls on individual orders, but it does not provide a general built-in spreadsheet editor for changing those fields across many orders.

This manual route is fine for a small number of orders. It becomes risky on a busy Friday: one wrong selection or copied address can affect fulfilment, while changing a paid order may be restricted. Check the order status and customer details before saving.

Check emails and fulfilment

After a bulk status change, open a few updated orders and confirm the new status, order notes, stock, payment information, and fulfilment details. Check your email settings and connected fulfilment systems as well, because status changes may trigger customer or admin notifications depending on your store setup.

If the wrong orders were selected, stop further processing immediately and restore the backup or correct the orders individually. Do not assume that changing a status back will reverse an email, shipment, stock movement, or external integration.

Use a spreadsheet editor for speed

For regular bulk edits, install WP Sheet Editor WooCommerce Orders Pro and open its WooCommerce order spreadsheet. Filter orders by fields such as date, status, customer, payment method, or billing details, display only the columns you need, edit multiple rows, and save the changes in bulk.

The plugin also adds CSV import and export, bulk status actions, order notes, custom fields, and customer or shipping data editing. Test the workflow on a small filtered group first, then export a backup or review the affected rows before applying a large change.

Questions

What can WooCommerce bulk edit without a plugin?
WooCommerce core can bulk-change selected orders to Processing, On hold, Completed, or Cancelled, move them to the trash, and remove personal data when bulk removal is enabled. It cannot generally bulk-edit billing addresses, shipping addresses, payment methods, line items, fees, coupons, or order notes from the standard Orders screen.
Can I bulk-edit WooCommerce order addresses?
Not from the standard WooCommerce Orders screen. You can open each order and edit its billing or shipping details individually, but changing addresses across many orders needs an order-editing extension, spreadsheet tool, CSV workflow, or custom development. Take a backup first and check the order status because editing paid orders can be restricted.
Will bulk-changing an order status send emails?
A status change can affect customer or administrator notifications, depending on the status and your store configuration. Before changing a large group, check your email settings and test with one or two orders. Also verify connected fulfilment, stock, payment, and shipping systems, because external integrations may respond to status changes.
Can I bulk-edit orders with High-Performance Order Storage enabled?
Yes, WooCommerce’s normal Orders screen remains the place to manage orders when High-Performance Order Storage is enabled. For any third-party bulk editor, confirm that its current version supports HPOS and uses WooCommerce’s order data APIs. Do not edit order database tables directly, because HPOS stores order data in dedicated WooCommerce tables.
What is the fastest way to bulk edit WooCommerce orders?
For a few status changes, use WooCommerce’s built-in filters, select the orders, and apply a bulk action. For repeated edits to addresses, payment methods, notes, custom fields, or CSV data, WP Sheet Editor WooCommerce Orders Pro is faster because it provides a filterable spreadsheet-style order table instead of requiring you to open orders one at a time.
