How to create reviews with Elementor

Decide whether you need a simple testimonials section or a genuine review system. A static section is suitable when you already have approved quotes and only need to display them. A review system is better when visitors must submit ratings, you need moderation, or reviews must be filtered and reused across pages.

Do not treat a row of five-star icons as a complete review feature. It does not, by itself, collect submissions, calculate an average or manage approval.

Edit the page with Elementor and add the Testimonial widget. Enter the review text, reviewer name, title and image, then adjust the alignment, typography, colours and spacing. Elementor documents this widget as a way to display testimonials, feedback, reviews and customer quotes.

For several reviews, use Testimonial Carousel or a standard carousel. Add one item per approved review and check the number of slides shown on desktop, tablet and mobile. The carousel is still manually maintained: adding a new review means editing the page.

Add Elementor’s Rating widget where you want the score to appear. Older Elementor documentation calls this the Star Rating widget; from Elementor 3.17, the Star Rating widget was replaced by Rating. Set the scale, score, icon style, colour and label so the number and stars agree.

Keep the rating beside the review it describes. A decorative five-star graphic without a stated score, reviewer or supporting text can confuse visitors and should not be presented as an independently collected rating.

If your Elementor installation includes the Form widget, add fields for name, email, review text, score and consent to publish. Configure Actions After Submit to send the entry to your team by email and, where available, store submissions in the WordPress dashboard. Elementor’s form documentation covers custom fields, required inputs, email notifications and stored submissions.

This is the main weakness of the manual route. The form does not automatically turn an approved submission into a new Testimonial widget item. Review each entry, remove spam, confirm permission to publish it, then copy the approved content into your testimonial layout. On a busy site, that Friday-afternoon copy-and-paste job becomes difficult to track.

Show the review text, reviewer identity, score and date where relevant, and make clear whether the review is verified or supplied by a customer. Test the form confirmation, email delivery and mobile layout before publishing. Elementor warns that form emails can land in spam, so check both the recipient inbox and the form’s stored submissions if available.

Do not promise Google stars simply because a rating widget is visible. Google requires valid review or aggregate-rating structured data, and self-serving reviews for some business types may not qualify for review rich results. Validate any structured data with Google’s Rich Results Test and follow the rules for the content type.
