How to add color pickers to WordPress forms

Forms Time About 20 minutes Updated 18 Sep 2026

FORMS
The short answer

You can add a basic colour picker with an HTML input type="color", but your form plugin must also process and email the field value. For palettes, RGB or HSL values, previews and reliable storage, use a form builder field or a dedicated colour-picker add-on.

What you need

  • A WordPress form plugin or builder with an HTML or custom field option
  • Administrator access to WordPress
  • A test email address or saved-entry screen
  • The colour format your form should store
