How to create and manage assignments in LearnPress
The short answer
LearnPress does not provide a complete assignment workflow in its core features. Add an assignments extension, place the assignment in a course curriculum, set its time limit and grading rules, then review submissions under LearnPress > Assignments.

Questions
- Can LearnPress create assignments without an add-on?
- No, not as a complete integrated workflow. You can publish instructions in a normal lesson and collect work by email or an external form, but core LearnPress does not provide the assignment-specific submission, file upload, evaluation and result screens described in the assignments documentation. Use an assignments add-on when you need those records connected to the course.
- Why can’t students see the assignment I created?
- Students usually cannot see it because the assignment was created separately but was not added to the course curriculum. Edit the relevant course, open the curriculum, and select the existing assignment in the correct section. Also check that the course and assignment are published and that the test account is enrolled on the course.
- How do I limit assignment file uploads?
- Edit the assignment’s general settings and set the permitted number of files, allowed extensions and maximum attachment size. A file may still fail when the WordPress or server upload limit is lower than the assignment limit. Setting the upload count to zero disables file uploads, so test the form with a student account before publishing the course.
- Where do I grade LearnPress assignment submissions?
- Go to LearnPress > Assignments, open the assignment, and select View Submissions. Choose a student’s evaluation option to inspect the answer and attachments, enter the mark and instructor note, then select Evaluate. After grading, students can see the result in the assignment or their profile, and email results depend on the assignment email setting.
- What is the fastest way to manage LearnPress assignments?
- Install and activate LearnPress Assignment, add the assignment from the course curriculum, and configure the description, time limit, mark, passing grade, retakes and upload rules. Students can then submit inside the course, while instructors review submissions and record feedback from LearnPress > Assignments.
